Busy Weekend in November!

As we begin to think about a restful Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends, things are getting busy around the Boyd this weekend.

First, on Saturday, November 21 is our 4th-annual Fun With Music Day event. The department established Fun With Music Day as an outreach event to get area elementary students more involved with music, and to provide our Music Education students the chance to practice their teaching at the elementary level – the level with which most students have the least experience or knowledge.

Students in grades Pre-K through 5 spend all morning in the Boyd singing, playing instruments, dancing, and more – all to MUSIC! It’s great fun for everyone involved, and guaranteed to get your heart pumping (it’s my one scheduled exercise activity for the year!). I encourage you to come down to the Boyd with your family to enjoy the many activities surrounding Fun With Music Day.

For more information, or to pre-register your children, visit the Fun With Music Day website at www.clarion.edu/63066.

Then on Sunday is the trumpet recital of Senior Music Education major Christopher Banks. Chris came to Clarion 4 short years ago from Brockway, PA, and has contributed greatly to the department during his short time here through his playing and work within the department. We are proud of the growth Chris has shown, and though we are sad to see him go, we are excited for him to begin the next phase of his career.

The recital is Sunday, November 22 at 4:oo p.m. in the Hart Chapel Theater on the main campus of Clarion University. The recital is free.

Hope to see you this weekend, and Happy Thanksgiving!
