Student Senior Recitals

It’s always great to hear our students perform their Senior Recitals. They work so diligently for months and months, learning a great deal about their performance areas (and themselves!) in the process.

This weekend, on Sunday, October 26, we have two senior recitals being presented.

The first recital is soprano Michelle Hall at 3:30 p.m. Michelle is from Allegany, NY and plans to pursue a graduate degree in Vocal Performance with a concentration in Operatic Performance. The second is William Nelson, piano at 6:00 p.m. Bill is from Rural Valley, PA and hopes to begin his teaching career right after graduation.

Both events are in the Marwick-Boyd Auditorium and a free and open to the public.

Nerves were seemingly a little bit of an issue in the memorization area. But over all yes well performed and covered. Very talented musician

polonaise in c sharp minor was well done. Good execution of the technical aspect of the piece. The right left cross was good. Nice work

wow bill! you killed chopin’s piece. definitely displays your skills

bill seems to back on track with polonaise in c sharp minor. he is displaying great musicianship. i enjoy his interpretation a lot

    *right hand* sorry

Great execution of ornamentation in the right throughout the Chopin Polonaise

sonata in e minor gave bill some trouble but he deserves a lot of credit for maintaining his composure and continuing through

Sonata in e minor was good. There seemed to be a couple stumbles. But bill recovered nicely. Good changes between styles in the midst of … …

Yikes Bill! It seamed that nerves really hit you memorization during the Haydn. Way to plow right through it or just repeat that section.

the first piece sonata in d major was well performed. Looked very comfortable playing the piece. Knew the piece well Good stage presence.

Love’s philosophy was very short. An interesting piece to end on. A very good recital. Thanks michelle

Janice is a beast. Nicely done michelle. Some room still for improvement, but solid and well done altogether.

Still having trouble understanding your english. It’s quite odd. I can understand your foreign language better than your english.

Over all the balance was a lot better. Michelle projected over the piano much better

Can’t help lovin dat man. Good piece to be near the end.the song was catchy and fun. Kept people interested

Pretty good diction. Some words sound kind of weird however. Still a very operatic sound. A music theater style would be appropriate still.

    Staging not staining

Mr. Snow is completly different than all the other pieces. Overall felt a good balance between the piano and voice. Staging adds to the … …

Mr snow. A very interesting choice in song. It is completely different than anything we have heard tonight. I like the change in style.

Solid note at the end. The language could still use some work and even more staging with add to the effectiveness.

In the jewel song. Balance was not very good. There were a few spots that Michelle came out but the overall balance was off.

Si mes vers avaient des ailes was a very beautiful song. The dynamic contrast could have been greater but the projection was very good.

Perhaps close the piano lid. Or maybe have michelle sing out some.

    Intermission

In tornami a vagheggiar the pronunciation was very good and dynamic contrast was exciting.

in the middle there is ao to accompanied section. Very well performed

    Big note!

It would be nice to have more accuracy on the runs coming down. It would definately add to the song.

The diction in o del mio dolce ardor was very good. I could make out all words. The intonation and projection were also good.

Loved that last one and now this. I’ve sung this one before. One of the first italian songs i ever sang. She’s doing it very well.

Hochster mache deine Gute went well. Good balance of the voice and piano! So far so good. Keep it up!

I like that the words are in the program. This is very helpful in understanding what each piece is about.

Batti batti, o bel Masetto was good. Sang with good expression

Batti batti o bel masetto went well. The balance of voice and piano was very good.

Good balance and blend between the two. Neither overpowered each other. I’m impressed.

Sull’ aria was interesting. I like the interaction between the two performers. Pretty cool. Nice and together. Well done.

Der Holle Rache was sang with great expression. A weak on higher notes.

Rachel is a very nice compliment to michelle. Both two excellent singers.

A little weak on the high notes. Not bad, but not the best I’ve heard you sing that. Keep it up though. Support!

The second piece der holle rache was good. The higher notes lost a little projection. But still was a good performance.

    Big ending!

    Here come the high notes!

Alleluja was sang very nicely. Alot of expression in the piece. Good start Michelle!

Good first song. Overshot one note. Other than that, nicely done.

The opening song was very exciting Good diction Although it was only one word, it was easily understood. Very bright and cheery. Good start.
